The Knowledge Graph by Google is defined as a Knowledge Base (KB) used to improve the quality of the Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs) for the users.

As the Knowledge Base technology is used to store the website data that is difficult to understand and, no matter if it is structured or not, this new tool is a further development in Google’s efforts to provide quality content to their users as conveniently as possible.

This particular tool is developed keeping in mind the users who access the search engines on computers and laptops. But the basic gist of it is inspired by the Rich Cards which itself was an advanced version of the Rich Snippets.

There are differences as usual in the three different tools provided by Google but the target of all three is common and it is the convenience of the users. Instead of featuring small Snippets or Cards, which are suitable for small screens of mobiles and tablets, Knowledge Graph make use of the plenty of space provided by the bigger screens of computers and laptops.

When we use them to search for something on the Google Search Engine, we usually find a vertical rectangular box in the right hand side corner of the screen. This box contains the vital information about the topic that you Googled and what other users usually find helpful. The sources for this information are multiple and the tool is also used for the mobile devices with adjusted box size.

As for the owners of the websites, it is a tool that improve their brand visibility by easily and readily letting users as well the search engine have access to their important but not confidential information.

Making use of the multiple sources that are available to Google, they aimed to shape their search engine in such a way it became a teacher as we all know it today instead of the becoming a virtual textbook in which you have to search long for an answer.

This way it served its’ purpose of providing instant information to the users rather than just becoming another library.

The motive of the internet was always to save time of the humans and so far Google is one of the few platforms that are bent on fulfilling that purpose instead of creating distractions and diversions that only waste people’s time. This revolutionary Tool was launched in 2012 and has changed the face of Google.
