Pogo sticking is an act the Google search engine users perform when they are not satisfied with the search results of a topic they asked for.

Just like a pogo stick goes up and down when you use it to bounce, the users also sometimes regret their decisions about what they need to search for in order to get the search result of their liking so they keep moving back and forth between search pages.

Basically the process is not completely deemed to be a Pogo Sticking unless an user clicks on a website or several websites and goes back to the change the keywords or phrase they typed on the search bar because the results on the first try were not satisfactory.

But it can still mean negative points for you if an user leaves your website in less time than it would take for them to read and analyze the content of at least their landing page.

Since Google has made it harder with their algorithms for the websites with no relevance to the topic to appear on the Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs), the fear of losing there ground is always in mind of the website owners.

The negative impact on your website, if it ever becomes a part of a Pogo Sticking process, is that it loses the relevance on which the entire Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is based.

If your content does not have as little relevancy to the subject that the users are looking for as to make them stay and engage with it, it is clearly not the content Google want to appear on the at least the first page of SERPs.

A similar process to this is Bounce Rate where it is analyzed how much time users spent on a website and from which page they left it. Understanding by the description of both of these, Pogo Sticking is clearly worst while the other can even benefit you in making your website SEO friendly.

One of the prime example of the reasons that play an important role in getting you caught in a Pogo Sticking is mediocrity.

Even if your website is among those who provide accurate and genuine content, lack of creativity while creating and presenting it to the search engine as well as the users can become a cause decline.

This is one of the lessons of SEO that many people do not understand, Search Engine are as capitalist as the entire economic structure of the world.
